Industry Careers

Hi, I am Mark Tanveski, the director of Industry Careers for 2026.

What are industry careers you might ask? Just about everything that falls outside of the traditional path of working at a large corporate firm. This means that we help students understand and access career pathways in areas of law such as criminal, family, environment, government, human rights, and more. If any of these areas interest you, then you'd greatly benefit from attending an event held by the Industry Careers portfolio. We hold multiple events that firms of varying size attend, from a wide variety of practice areas. These events allow firms to explain more about what they do and what work in their area looks like. Students are also afforded the opportunity to network with firms, lawyers and HR representatives, which can be of great benefit when applying for student or graduate roles.

Our main events for the year include the Industry Careers Connect Fair, and the Career Panel Night, which is held in collaboration with the Commercial Careers Portfolio. Industry Careers also organises and hosts multiple firm presentations throughout the year, in which students can hear from one firm directly. For students closer to graduating, PLT providers also give presentations. Lauren, Toby and Matthew, our officers, work hard to bring these events to life.
